Prince of Peace

Prince of Peace

For the fourth consecutive Easter season, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is encouraging Mormons and others around the world to share hopeful messages about Jesus Christ. This year’s focus comes from the Bible’s teaching that Christ is the Prince of Peace.

“And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” —Isaiah 9:6

“We want the world to know that peace can come to all who earnestly seek the Prince of Peace,” said President Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. “His is the sweet and saving message we take throughout the world — ‘my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.’”

As with previous years’ messages (which have been viewed by millions), this year’s messaging initiative coincides with Holy Week—from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, April 9–16—and includes three invitations:

  1. Come to Christ.

  2. Learn principles of peace from the Prince of Peace.

  3. Share ways to find peace through the Savior.

Invite All to Come unto Christ

Beginning March 30 the “Prince of Peace” website on mormon.org (Learn Principles of Peace from the #PrinceofPeace) features a two-minute video (shown above) illustrating the role of Jesus Christ as the “Prince of Peace” and inviting others to learn about eight “principles of peace.” The video is available in 33 languages, and the website in 29 languages.

During Holy Week, people can learn more about these eight principles of peace: faith, compassion, forgiveness, repentance, gratitude, God’s word, prayer and hope. Each day, the website and social media pages will feature one principle with a video about an individual’s experience finding peace by living that principle.

Share Ways to Find Peace Through the Savior

These videos and related content will also be available on many of the Church's social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest and Instagram) or the Prince of Peace website in English and Spanish. Those sharing experiences online are encouraged to use the #PrinceOfPeace.

Other Promotional Efforts

Digital advertising is being done in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Visitors’ centers displays are set up in all the Church’s English-speaking visitors’ centers and in Spanish at the Mexico City Temple Visitors’ Center. Billboards announcing the initiative are posted in Salt Lake City and at the Los Angeles Temple grounds and the Mexico City Temple Visitors’ Center.
